Why is pumpkin seed oil so dark?

Frequently Asked Questions about Pumpkin Seed Oil

The reason for the dark color of our pumpkin seed oil is that the pumpkin seeds are gently roasted before pressing. These roasting aromas are the basis for the unique nutty flavor that our customers worldwide love so much.

Why is pumpkin seed oil so dark?
Unlike hot-pressed oils, where the pressed material is actively heated, we take another step in the production of our pumpkin seed oil. The pumpkin seeds are ground, and this roasting mass is gently roasted in a roasting pan. Depending on the intensity of the roasting, this results in the release of roasted aromas - similar to coffee beans.

This is the reason why our oil is not light but has a darker color. Depending on the incidence of light, the color can range from yellowish-brownish to dark green-reddish.
