Iodine content

Glossary

Iodine content describes how much iodine a food contains. Iodine is a trace element; the body needs it, among other things, to produce thyroid hormones.

In the context of Styrian pumpkin seed oil: pumpkin seed oil is not a typical source of iodine. Iodine occurs mainly in seafood and in iodised table salt. Traces in the seeds can depend on the soil; during pressing, minerals remain largely in the press cake. The oil is not suitable as an iodine source in the diet.
